Thought i would put my tuppence worth regarding the match although i don't
know if i remember it all correctly. I watched the game in a pub in Ayr
the
place was full of Celtic fans - something i certainly didn't expect. The
atmosphere was fantastic - although i still wish i was at the game. I had
a
wee smile to myself thinking about David Paton and Paton Jnr as they watched
the same huddle billions of miles away. I told everyone that i had a tear
in my eye reading your email David.
A brief summary of the game as others can do it better than me: 1st half i
was a bit despondant we never really got going i think nerves played a part
as did too much respect to them as did their way of stopping the game at
every turn.
I don't know what happened at half time but we were supreme in the 2nd half,
i was a bit gutted to go to 2-1 as at that point there was only one team in
(apart from Deco). We got a deserved 2nd equaliser and i my dreams were
becomg a reality - we were gonna win the cup.
In to extra time and we looked like we were fit enough to play another 90
mins, Bobo gets sent off and the legs go... lets hope for penalties.
Another foray down our right back and Rab spills it a bit and its a goal....
i sing to a crouch position - devastated - they have robbed me of the
feeling that so many others had at Lisbon. We didn't deserve to lose - we
were heroes!!!
I also ended up in the Club-de-Mar in ayr, a nightclub i haven't frequented
since my young days - still shite but made all the better with the hoops and
sombreros !!!
Spare a thought for my Mother and father in law who were in Seville but
never saw the game as they closed the gates at the park where the big screen
was. He phoned on Thursday morning to see how we played i thought he was
winding me up. He said they shut the gates and then they couldnt get into
a
pub, they had walked 2hrs to get to the park then couldnt get a taxi back as
it was so busy. He eventually got a taxi during extra time and heard porto
score on the radio, gutted doesnt even cover it.
C'mon the hoops
